In the will of Robert Sterry the elder of Brighton near Melbourne in the Colony of Victoria Gardener deceased

… Robert Sterry departed this life on the 25 Oct 1883 … left him surviving Elizabeth Sterry wife … Zillah Newton (in the said will wrongfully called Zellah Newton wife of George Henry Newton of Carlton, draper, Samuel Sterry, Robert Sterry and Henry Sterry the only children of the said deceased … appointed George Harris St Ellen of Lothair Street Clunes … sole executor …

This is the last Will and Testament of Robert Sterry senior of Brighton near Melbourne in the Colony of Victoria Gardiner. All my real and personal estate is to be sold either privately or by public auction. My dear wife Elizabeth Sterry is then to receive the sum of six hundred (600) pounds out of which sum she is to pay all my just debts and funeral expences(sic). The balance of the remaining money derived from the said sale of my estate to be equally divided between my dear children namely my dear son Samuel Sterry my dear daughter Zella Newton my dear son Robert Sterry and my dear son Harry Sterry.

And I hereby appoint George Henry Harris St Ellen of Clunes Commission Agent Executor of this my Will. Whereof I have hereunto set my hand this seventeenth say of July in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three.
